Man remanded for alleged robbery of MoMo vendor

The Nalerigu District Court in the North East Region has remanded Waliu Fazazi into police custody for his alleged involvement in the robbery of a mobile money(MoMo) vendor at Bunkpurugu.

This was after Fazazi was arraigned before the court on Friday, April 25, 2025.

He is expected to reappear before the court on May 9, 2025.

The accused and other accomplices who are currently on the run on April 23, 2025, robbed a MoMo vendor of GH₵300,000.00.

In a statement, the Police said investigations revealed that the Fazazi approached the vendor under the pretext of withdrawing GH₵15,000.00, claiming it was a transfer from his brother, delayed by network issues.

Two masked men, one of whom was armed, suddenly appeared, during the process and demanded the vendor’s bag containing cash.

Amidst the firing of warning shots, the robbers fled the scene on a motorbike.

Meanwhile, police are urging the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects still at large.
