The Deputy Central Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Mensah Abekah, has issued a strong warning to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), threatening a solo demonstration if the ongoing power outages—commonly known as dumsor—persist.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Mr. Abekah expressed deep frustration over the recurring blackouts, suggesting that some ECG workers may be deliberately undermining the efforts of President John Dramani Mahama.
He insisted that President Mahama had resolved dumsor before leaving office in 2016. However, Mr. Abekah now believes certain elements within ECG are creating what he calls “artificial dumsor” to tarnish Mahama’s image.
“I will not hesitate to stage a one-man protest against ECG if they continue with this unnecessary power outage,” he said.
He added that NDC members are tired of defending a problem they believe is being manufactured for political reasons.
Mr. Abekah further called on President Mahama to consider dismissing ECG staff allegedly recruited under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, claiming they are responsible for the recent disruptions in power supply.
