Asante Kotoko has announced a major overhaul of its technical setup following the departure of Head Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
The club confirmed Ogum’s exit after a disappointing run of form, which saw the team go four matches without a win.
Despite guiding the Porcupine Warriors to the Ghana Premier League title during his first stint, recent struggles led to mounting pressure and his eventual departure.
Kotoko currently sits fourth on the league table with 47 points after 28 matches played.
In response to the situation, the club has appointed former player Abdul Karim Zito as its new Technical Director.
Zito returns with extensive experience at both club and national levels. His résumé includes leading Dreams FC to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup and guiding Ghana’s U-20 side to victory in the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
In addition to his new role, Zito will serve as Acting Head Coach until a permanent replacement is named.
The club has also brought in Prince Yaw Owusu as Assistant Coach. Owusu is a seasoned tactician with over 20 years of experience, having coached in Ghana, Sudan, and the United States.
His previous appointments include head coaching roles at Medeama SC, Inter Allies, and Khartoum National Club, as well as stints with Ghana’s U-17 and U-20 national teams.
Meanwhile, Malik Jabir, a former Technical Director, has been reassigned as Technical Advisor. In this strategic role, he will offer long-term guidance to support the club’s broader vision.
