Head coach of Ghana’s U-20 national team, the Black Satellites, Desmond Ofei, says he remains confident and composed despite being drawn against reigning champions Senegal in the upcoming 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana has been placed in a challenging group alongside Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic. With only the top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed sides, progressing to the quarterfinals, competition is expected to be fierce.
Speaking to CAF media, the young and ambitious Ofei acknowledged the strength of the opposition but maintained that his side would be ready for the test.
“It’s a big match, no doubt. But we’ll treat it like any other: with respect, focus, and confidence. We’ll execute our tactical plan, stay disciplined, and be fearless in key moments,” he said.
Ofei is hoping to guide the Black Satellites deep into the tournament and restore the team’s reputation on the continental stage following recent setbacks.
The 2025 U-20 AFCON will kick off on Sunday, April 27, and run through to the final on May 18.
