Damongo, Sawla MMDCEs confirmed; MP urges focus on development

The Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for Damongo and Sawla have been successfully confirmed, marking the completion of the final batch of confirmations in the Savannah Region.

In Sawla, the Member of Parliament for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Hon. Andrew Chiwentey, urged the newly confirmed District Chief Executive, Saaka Sinkina, to work diligently to address the district’s pressing development challenges, particularly in the areas of electricity and infrastructure.

He also assured assembly members that President John Mahama’s government would soon introduce monthly support packages for assembly members.

Saaka Sinkina, who also serves as the Assembly Member for the Sindaa Electoral Area, earned a unanimous 100% endorsement—securing all 45 votes, including his own.

In his acceptance speech, Sinkina expressed gratitude to his fellow assembly members and pledged to serve all residents of the district, regardless of political affiliation, religion, or ethnic background. He assured the assembly that he would not disappoint them.

Meanwhile, in Damongo, Yakubu Yussif Castro was also confirmed as the Municipal Chief Executive for West Gonja. He secured unanimous approval, garnering all 17 votes from the assembly members.

Castro thanked President John Mahama for the nomination and pledged to work in the best interest of the people in the municipality.
