The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has announced plans to resume his mediation efforts between the two feuding factions in the long-standing Bawku conflict.
This decision follows a recent reaffirmation by former President John Mahama to continue supporting the peace process led by the Asantehene, which is part of broader national efforts to restore stability to the troubled region.
In a statement issued on April 15, the Manhyia Palace confirmed that the mediation sessions will take place from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the King’s palace in Kumasi.
“His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will resume mediation of the Bawku crisis as agreed with both parties from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi,” the statement read.
The Palace further urged all stakeholders involved in the conflict to fully cooperate with the peace process, emphasizing that the goal is to find a lasting resolution to the crisis.
“Asantehene requests all stakeholders to cooperate for us to find a lasting peace in Bawku,” the statement added.
The upcoming mediation sessions are expected to involve key leaders from the rival factions, along with other relevant stakeholders, all meeting under the guidance of the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace.
