What do you want? – Ouattara clashes with journalists

-

Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, was involved in a heated exchange with journalists following his team’s 1-0 victory over Medeama SC on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The win marked an end to Hearts’ four-game winless streak, with Raphael Amponsah’s first-half long-range strike proving to be the match-winner.

Despite securing all three points, some sections of the home crowd voiced dissatisfaction with the team’s underwhelming second-half performance.

When asked about his thoughts on the overall display, an visibly frustrated Ouattara responded sharply: “Sometimes, I ask myself, what do you [journalists] want? When we win, the performance is not good. When we play well and lose, then you criticise us. Tell me the truth, what do you want?”

He continued, “Me, I need three points. If I get the three points, all this commentary is not my concern. The table is not about performance; we want three points.”

This is not the first instance of Ouattara clashing with the media. After a December loss to Asante Kotoko, he dismissed post-match questions as “unreasonable lottery questions.”

The win lifts Hearts of Oak to 4th place on the Ghana Premier League table with 40 points.

They will look to build on this momentum when they face Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in their next fixture.
