The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has questioned the credibility of a response issued by Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, regarding two flights, alleging that the information provided is inaccurate and misleading.
This follows concerns raised by the Minority in Parliament over the activities of the aircraft in Ghana. Rev. Fordjour alleged that an air ambulance and a private jet might have been involved in drug trafficking or money laundering, a claim that JoyNews cannot independently confirm.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, Rev. Fordjour strongly refuted the claims made by Kwakye Ofosu, describing them as unreliable.
“The response that Kwakye Ofosu put out there is simply not credible. The itinerary of the flight is inaccurate,” Rev. Fordjour said.
He further explained that the situation was worsened by the swift intervention of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which immediately politicized the issue and sought to debunk the original information.
Rev. Fordjour pointed to JoyNews’ efforts to fact-check the details, claiming that the station independently verified the itinerary.
“When I initially raised the matter, the NDC quickly came in and politicised it,” Rev. Fordjour said. “However, your own station, JoyNews, took the trouble to verify the itinerary and confirmed that indeed, these two flights had entered the country.”
He stressed that this verification from a major news outlet further highlighted the inaccuracies in Kwakye Ofosu’s claims.
