Mohammed Polo urges Black Stars to maintain consistency after back-to-back wins

-

Former Ghana football icon Mohammed Polo has called on the Black Stars to remain consistent following their back-to-back victories in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

After a disappointing 2024 campaign, where they won just two of 10 matches and missed out on qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ghana began 2025 on a positive note with wins over Chad and Madagascar in Matchdays 5 and 6.

Speaking to Joy Sports, Polo, a member of Ghana’s 1978 AFCON-winning squad, emphasized the importance of sustained performance.

“I think it is very good, especially after missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is unprecedented. Winning these matches has given us some hope, but they should keep on going because it’s not over yet. There are still matches to be played, so we hope there will be consistency in their performance, which is very important,” Polo said.

The recent victories have lifted Ghana to the top of Group I with 15 points, with four qualifying matches remaining.

The Black Stars will face Chad and Mali in September for Matchdays 7 and 8 before concluding their campaign against Comoros and the Central African Republic.
