The Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights (ARHR) has called on the government to provide clarity on the budgetary allocations and policies for the health sector.
In an interview with Adom News during the presentation of its key findings on health from the 2025 budget in Accra on Thursday, Communications Officer Nana Oye emphasized the need for transparency in the government’s health funding.
Nana Oye noted that while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto promised budget allocations for mental health, the 2025 budget lacked sufficient funding to expand mental health services beyond the three major centers, limiting nationwide access.
She also expressed concerns over the lack of clear implementation and funding strategies for the free sanitary pad policy, despite an allocation of GH₵292.4 million.
“There needs to be clear communication on how these funds will be utilized,” Nana Oye said, stressing the importance of transparency for better service delivery.
Additionally, she called for a clear roadmap on the payment of NHIS arrears to ensure timely allocation of funds for improved healthcare services.
Nana Oye urged the government to prioritize stakeholder partnerships for the completion of the Agenda 111 hospital projects, which are crucial for boosting healthcare delivery across the country.
