Eid-ul-Fitr marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast from dawn until sunset.

This occasion is a time for official receptions and private gatherings, where friends greet one another and exchange gifts.

A mandatory charity called Zakat ul-Fitr is collected before the prayer and distributed to the poor and needy to ensure all can participate in the festivities.

Addressing the Muslim community to commemorate the event, President John Dramani Mahama urged the residents of Bawku in the Upper East Region to embrace peace as they celebrate Ramadan.

He emphasized that this holy month is a time for unity and reconciliation.

The President appealed to all factions to set aside their differences and work together toward lasting peace.
