-

National Security has arrested a Ghanaian and eight Chinese nationals in connection with the missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers at the Tema Port.

The suspects were arrested on Thursday, March 27, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation.

Investigators traced cables suspected to be part of the missing shipment to an aluminium smelting facility owned by Chinese nationals at Shai Hills.

The operation targeted two aluminium smelting companies, where the cables were reportedly being melted into aluminium bars for export.

Chief Supt. Alhasan Osman, the Director of Investigation at the National Security Council, confirmed the arrests in an interview with the media.

He also revealed that National Security operatives are on a manhunt for another Chinese national who is currently on the run.

Earlier, Energy Minister John Jinapor, in an interview with Accra-based TV3, disclosed that authorities have recovered 40 of the missing ECG containers at a warehouse in Kpone.

Jinapor also confirmed the arrest of an Indian national, who claims to have legally acquired the containers last year.
