Three persons have died in an accident on the Techiman-Wenchi highway in the Bono Region.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning at Nkonsia, a farming community in the Wenchi Municipality.

A KIA Rhino with registration number AS 7102-13, loaded with cashew nuts, collided with a Daewoo Matiz taxi with registration number GN 356-19 traveling from Wenchi towards Techiman.

Two males in the taxi died on the spot, while a female passenger was pronounced dead at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.

The Wenchi Municipal Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Divisional Officer 2 (DOII) Eric Boateng, told Adom News’ correspondent Nana Anfreh Damanata that the KIA Rhino driver’s brakes failed, causing the vehicle to veer off its lane and crash into the Daewoo Matiz.

DOII Boateng added that the mate of the KIA Rhino sustained a minor forehead injury and is receiving treatment at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital morgue, awaiting autopsy.
