Benjamin Asare is hungry to succeed at Black Stars – Damba

Former Ghana goalkeeper Abukari Damba has praised Benjamin Asare for his impressive performances with the Black Stars, expressing confidence that the Hearts of Oak shot-stopper is determined to make a lasting impact on the national team.

Asare has been outstanding since earning his first call-up, keeping back-to-back clean sheets in his first two games. He was instrumental in Ghana’s 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium and followed that up with another shutout in a 3-0 win over Madagascar in Morocco on Monday.

Reacting to Asare’s performances, Damba said, “Benjamin Asare has shown beyond doubt that he is hungry and eager to leave a mark in the Black Stars.” He also commended the Black Stars squad for fully embracing the young goalkeeper, noting the trust and respect the team has shown him.

Damba highlighted that the entire team has supported Asare, and that trust has played a vital role in his confident performances. “The entire Black Stars team has accepted him for who he is. They trust and respect him,” he added.

Asare has been in excellent form for Hearts of Oak this season, recording 12 clean sheets in 19 Ghana Premier League matches. His recent international displays have only boosted his confidence as he seeks to solidify his place in the squad.

Looking ahead, the 26-year-old will aim to retain his position in the Black Stars lineup for the upcoming four-nation tournament in June and in the crucial Matchday 7 and 8 qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
