Ghana’s all-time top scorer, Asamoah Gyan, has called on the Black Stars to prioritize securing maximum points in their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Currently third in Group I with nine points from four matches, Ghana will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium tonight before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium on Monday, March 24.
Despite the team’s struggles in 2024—winning just two of their last 10 games—Gyan, who featured in the 2006, 2010, and 2014 World Cups, has urged the players to stay focused on victory.
“Black Stars must focus on the six points against Chad and Madagascar. That is all that we want,” he told Asempa FM.
He emphasized that while fans appreciate entertaining football, securing results should be the team’s priority.
“We want to see them play good football, but the three points should be the most important thing,” he added.
Gyan also encouraged the players to engage with supporters and give their best on the pitch.
“The players are in to prove a point because we all know what they can do for us. I was telling them to relate to the fans and just do what they want.”
Following their failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON—the first time in two decades—Ghana will be eager to turn things around with strong performances in these crucial qualifiers.
