The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Eduamoah Okyere, recently paid a working visit to the Central Regional Headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. The visit aimed to familiarize himself with the Service’s operations and officially introduce himself as the newly approved Regional Minister.
During the visit, ACFO Merinder Mary Attigah Mensah, the Regional Commander, highlighted key achievements of the command, including the repair of broken appliances to improve operational efficiency and an increased focus on fire safety education to reduce fire outbreaks.
She also mentioned the inauguration of 120 Fire Volunteer Squads at Mankrong Nkwanta to safeguard major markets in the region.
ACFO Mensah also appealed to the minister to consider establishing new fire stations in Assin South, Assin North, Twifo Atimorkwa, and Ekumfi to enhance emergency response capabilities.
Minister Okyere commended the GNFS personnel for their dedication and professionalism despite the challenges they face. He assured them of the government’s commitment to providing the necessary resources to strengthen their operations.
The minister encouraged the Service to maintain its professionalism, continue participating in monthly cleanup exercises, and keep up public education efforts on fire safety to help prevent preventable fire outbreaks.
