Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has stressed the importance of learning from past mistakes as Ghana prepares for its 2026 World Cup qualifying matches.
The four-time African champions endured a disappointing 2024, managing just two wins in 10 matches following Addo’s return on a three-year contract.
Their struggles were further highlighted by a shocking failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the first time in two decades that Ghana will miss the tournament.
With a fresh opportunity ahead, the 49-year-old coach remains hopeful that the team has taken valuable lessons from their setbacks.
“This is football. Sometimes you have ups, sometimes you have downs, but the most important thing is to learn out of the downs,” he told TV3.
“And even if you have ups, to be critical enough to look at the improving points,” he added.
The Black Stars will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before facing Madagascar in Morocco three days later for their sixth qualifying match.
Ghana currently sits joint top of the 2026 World Cup qualifying group with nine points, level with Comoros.
