2025 Budget: Debate must reflect Ghanaians’ plight – Gideon Boako

-

Member of Parliament for Tano North, Dr. Gideon Boako, has urged his colleagues in Parliament to approach the debate on the 2025 budget with honesty and a strong focus on the challenges facing Ghanaians.

Speaking during deliberations on the budget statement, he emphasized the need for constructive discussions that prioritize the well-being of the people.

Dr. Boako acknowledged the diverse perspectives presented by MPs regarding the budget, describing them as essential to democratic discourse.

However, he stressed the importance of ensuring that contributions remain sincere and reflective of the realities faced by citizens.

“Mr. Speaker, I have listened to colleagues on their views on the budget, and it is refreshing to hear the different shades of argument. But, Mr. Speaker, it is important that as we debate the budget, we do so conscious of the fact that we are here by virtue of the honour done us by this country,” he stated.

He reminded lawmakers that their primary duty is to serve the interests of Ghanaians and that the budget debate should reflect the genuine concerns of the people.

Dr. Boako called on MPs to rise above partisanship and engage in discussions that offer practical solutions to the country’s economic challenges.

“We owe it a duty to let our submissions be influenced by candour and the plight of Ghanaians,” he added.
