Ablakwa commends India for peaceful 2024 election

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, has praised India for successfully conducting a peaceful and transparent election in 2024.

Speaking during his visit to India, he commended the country’s strong democratic institutions and its commitment to upholding electoral integrity.

In his discussions with Indian counterpart, His Excellency Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Mr. Ablakwa acknowledged India’s position as the world’s largest democracy and emphasized the importance of its peaceful electoral process.

“India’s successful 2024 election is a testament to its democratic maturity and commitment to free and fair elections,” he stated.

He further noted that India’s electoral system serves as an inspiration for other democracies, including Ghana.

The Minister highlighted the importance of strong institutions, civic engagement, and adherence to democratic principles in ensuring credible elections.

He expressed Ghana’s eagerness to deepen collaboration with India in areas such as governance, electoral reforms, and democratic development.

“We believe there is much to learn from India’s experience, and we look forward to strengthening our partnership in promoting democratic governance,” he remarked.

Mr. Ablakwa’s visit to India, which was at the invitation of his Indian counterpart, further demonstrates Ghana’s commitment to fostering diplomatic and economic relations.

He reiterated Ghana’s admiration for India’s democratic achievements and expressed confidence that continued collaboration between the two nations would further promote good governance and political stability.
