Minority questions delay in submission of Deputy Ministerial nominees

-

The Minority in Parliament is demanding answers regarding the delay in President John Dramani Mahama’s submission of the remaining Deputy Ministerial nominees for parliamentary consideration.

President Mahama had assured that the final list would be presented within a week during the swearing-in of newly appointed deputy ministers on March 12.

Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, March 18, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin expressed concern over the President’s unfulfilled commitment.

“The President, whose government business you lead in this chamber, promised to submit the names of deputy ministerial nominees. He made this promise last week—Wednesday, Thursday, Friday—today is Tuesday. What is going on?” he questioned.

However, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga responded, stating that the President could not be held accountable in Parliament for commitments made outside the chamber.
