NIB reportedly detains Rev. Kusi Boateng

-

The National Investigations Bureau (NIB) has reportedly detained Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, Secretary to the National Cathedral Board of Trustees.

According to Accra-based Citi News, the renowned man of God, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, is in custody as part of an investigation into allegations of possessing multiple identities.

He was taken into custody on Friday, March 14, 2025.

North Tongu MP and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in 2023 accused Rev Kusi-Boateng of criminalities, stating he has a double identity and multiple passports with different dates of birth.

In an earlier expose’, Mr Ablakwa had indicated the National Cathedral Secretariat transferred a cash sum of GHS2.6 million to a company called JNS Talent Centre Limited for no work done.

He identified the directors of the company as Johannes Eshun, Sheila Eshun and Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

He indicated Kwabena Adu Gyamfi is a criminal creation of Rev Victor Kusi-Boateng, adding the two are therefore, the same, hence the need for his resignation and possible prosecution.

The lawmaker subsequently petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to Rev. Kusi-Boateng over conflict of interest, including possession of multiple identities and other alleged criminal dealings.

However, CHRAJ, in a report in November 2024, indicated that Kusi Boateng holds one passport with the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

Also, CHRAJ noted that no service was rendered by the JNS Talent Centre Limited, owned by Rev. Kusi-Boateng under his secondary identity, Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

Instead, Rev Kusi Boateng offered to pay contractors of the National Cathedral because, at the time, the National Cathedral was not in good financial standing, and so the monies that were transferred to him were monies owed him for paying contractors of the project.

But CHRAJ recommended an investigation and possible prosecution of the board of trustees of the National Cathedral project.

Reacting to the report, Mr. Ablakwa insisted that CHRAJ overlooked other identification documents, such as a driver’s license and Ghana Card, which he submitted as part of his petition in January 2023.
