Renowned Ghanaian sports broadcaster Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has been appointed as the new Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), succeeding Acting Director General Seth Panwum.
With an esteemed career spanning top media platforms such as the BBC, SuperSport, and Metro TV, Ampofo Ankrah is widely recognized for his contributions to sports journalism. He currently serves as the Head of Sports at MAX FM.
In his new role, he will work closely with the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to drive the growth, organization, and promotion of both professional and recreational sports across the country.
His responsibilities will include fostering national unity through sports, encouraging health and fitness initiatives, and ensuring the efficient management of sports infrastructure for long-term sustainability.
Stakeholders are optimistic that his leadership will bring innovation and progress to the NSA, strengthening sports administration and development in Ghana.
Beyond broadcasting, Ampofo Ankrah has played a pivotal role in Ghana’s beach soccer scene. He currently serves as President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) and previously led the Beach Soccer Committee under the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
As he embarks on this new chapter, the sports community eagerly anticipates his impact, hoping for a transformative approach that elevates Ghanaian sports on both national and international stages.
