Asante Kotoko head coach Dr. Prosper Ogum has admitted that coping with the tragic loss of Francis Frimpong has been incredibly difficult.
The late Nana Pooley, as he was affectionately called, was laid to rest last weekend after being fatally stabbed at Nana Kronmansah Park in Nsoatre during a Premier League match against Nsoatreman FC.
Despite the emotional weight, Kotoko returned to action with a 2-0 victory over Legon Cities in their Matchday 23 clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking after the game, Dr. Ogum reflected on the emotional toll of Frimpong’s passing.
“It has not been easy if you look at how associated we all are with Pooley,” he said.
“It has not been easy trying to overcome his death. Sometimes, it looks like it’s a dream, but it’s a reality.
“It was very difficult to overcome. If you look at the body language of the players, it wasn’t that pleasant—it was a sad body language they exhibited throughout.
“I felt it so much today when we were doing the minute’s silence… so may he rest in peace,” he added.
With this victory, Kotoko now leads the league table with 37 points.
The Porcupine Warriors will next face defending champions FC Samartex in their Matchday 24 encounter at the Dr. Nsenkyire Sports Complex.
