Bechem United assistant coach excited as Ghana Premier League resumes

-

Bechem United assistant coach Seth Osei has expressed his excitement as the Ghana Premier League resumes after a temporary suspension.

The league was put on hold following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, who was fatally stabbed at the Nana Koromansah II Park during a Matchday 19 fixture against Nsoatreman FC.

His burial took place on Thursday, March 6.

In response to the incident, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) suspended league matches and engaged stakeholders before confirming the competition’s return this weekend.

Bechem United will travel to the TNA Park on Sunday to face Medeama SC, and ahead of the fixture, Seth Osei has welcomed the league’s restart.

“The feeling [of resumption] is very good. It is a job we’ve chosen to do. What happened will not be entertained,” he told the club’s media.

“Based on our training sessions, I think it was good, and we hope to continue; then we decide on the plan and strategy [for the clash against Medeama SC],” he added.

Meanwhile, the GFA has introduced stricter safety and security protocols across its competitions to prevent hooliganism. These measures include appointing Club Safety and Security Officers and installing CCTV cameras at match venues.

Clubs that fail to comply with these regulations will face sanctions, including a GH₵20,000 fine and potential venue bans.
