The Bole Chief Imam, Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu, has issued a directive banning extravagant wedding celebrations that do not align with Islamic teachings in the Bole area of the Savannah Region.
The ban, which applies to all weddings within his jurisdiction, mandates that all Imams in the area enforce the new regulation.
The decision seeks to eliminate practices such as music and dancing, which contradict Islamic principles, as well as the imposition of high wedding standards that place financial strain on young couples, particularly grooms.
The Chief Imam emphasized that Islamic weddings should be modest, simple, and financially accessible to ensure that economic burdens do not discourage young Muslims from getting married.
