I’ll turn down an appointment from NDC but… – Mzbel

-

Ghanaian singer Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, has expressed disappointment over not being approached with any appointment offer despite her contributions to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Her concerns come in the wake of several creatives receiving appointments under the new government.

According to Mzbel, she is likely to reject any appointment to avoid public scrutiny and maintain her peace of mind.

“The truth is that I will turn down an offer of appointment should the President even call because I want peace of mind. I don’t want anyone to equate my success to politics because I work very hard,” she stated.

“For instance, should I travel for even my own show, they will say ‘she is traveling with taxpayers’ money. Politics has made her this and that,” she added.

However, she admitted she would have felt appreciated if the appointing authorities had at least reached out to her, considering the sacrifices she made for the party.

“I’m disappointed that some of my colleagues have been given appointments while I’ve not even been called. Considering the fact that I’ve really been bullied, insulted, and even threatened because of NDC, it’s disappointing that with the party in power now, Mzbel has been forgotten and no one has bothered to even get in touch with me,” she lamented.

“Anyway, I don’t even know how these appointments are being done. Maybe people submit their resumes or make calls to some influential people to lobby for them, but at least a call to make an offer wouldn’t be bad,” she added.

Mzbel has been vocal about her support for the NDC since 2012 and played an active role in past elections. She led a group, Celebrities for Mahama, to campaign for the party.

Now that the party is in power, she revealed she is under pressure from group members and other sympathizers seeking job opportunities.

“My house has virtually become an extension of the NDC headquarters, with many of the group members and party supporters pressuring me to get them jobs,” she told Graphic Showbiz.

She further disclosed that leading party figures she was in touch with have distanced themselves, ignoring her calls and avoiding places they used to meet.
