Eric Adjei sets records straight on NEIP suspension saga [Listen]

-

The Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, (NEIP) Eric Adjei, has denied any wrongdoing regarding the temporary suspension of some staff.

According to him, the move is part of a restructuring effort after he assumed office and discovered certain irregularities.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr. Adjei clarified that the affected employees have not been issued termination letters.

He revealed that some of these employees, whose appointments date back to 2017 and 2023, do not have a salary structure.

“These individuals were issued appointment letters stating that in the event of a dismissal due to a change in management, they would receive a three-month salary in advance. So I believe there should be an allocation, but there is none, so how do we make such payments?” he questioned.

Mr. Adjei further disclosed that the affected employees are neither under the Public Services Commission nor the Civil Service, a situation he described as improper.

“They are not on SSNIT, and upon reviewing the records, I discovered that the salaries in their appointment letters are classified as allowances. Who receives an allowance for seven years in a government institution? Furthermore, the issue of legality arises: every salaried worker is required to pay withholding tax,” he explained.

He emphasized that he will not overlook these irregularities, as doing so could affect his track record in the future.

“I will not continue with this irregularity because if a different government assumes power, I would be held accountable, and that wouldn’t speak well of me,” he added.
