TGMA: King Paluta makes strong case for why he deserves AOTY

Rapper King Paluta, born Paluta Thomas Adjei Wireko, has made a strong case for why he deserves to be crowned Artist of the Year at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

Speaking in an interview on Neat FM, King Paluta highlighted his consistency and hard work over the past year, citing his numerous achievements.

He noted that he released four hit songs—Odo Bi Ye Bad, Aseda, Makoma, and For the Popping (Apicki)—which gained significant traction both locally and internationally.

Additionally, he featured on over 40 songs, performed at 115 shows, and successfully released an album.

“Last year, I won TGMA’s Best New Artist of the Year, which was the second most prestigious award after the ultimate Artist of the Year. If I have evolved from being a new cat to making bigger moves, then I deserve the ultimate this time around,” he argued.

He further emphasized that 2024 has been a “King Paluta Year,” as his songs have reached audiences beyond Ghana.

“I did not sleep on my talent. I have recorded back-to-back hits. My songs went worldwide—people from different countries were jamming to them. It will be unfair not to be given due recognition as Artist of the Year,” he stressed.

However, King Paluta falls short of meeting the requirement of headlining his own show, a factor that could impact his chances.

Defending this, he explained that he had to prioritize international engagements due to high demand from his global fanbase.

Aside from Artist of the Year, King Paluta is also eyeing awards in categories such as Best Collaboration and Most Popular Song of the Year, given his impressive contributions to the music industry.
