Technical Advisor of the Black Stars, Winfried Schäfer, has urged the team to approach their upcoming matches against Chad and Madagascar with a strong winning mindset.
Ghana will face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, at 19:00 GMT, before traveling to Morocco to take on Madagascar at the Grand Stade d’Al Hoceima on Monday, March 24.
Speaking to the Ghana FA media ahead of the fixtures, the German coach emphasized the importance of securing vital points to boost their chances of qualifying for next year’s World Cup.
“We have to go into the next two matches with confidence, with a winning mentality. The players have to know that when they come here and go back to their clubs, they should be highly motivated and fit. Nobody should think, ‘Oh, now I have to go to Ghana, and the field is not good, the pitch is not good, the massage is not good.’ No. That is the first thing we have to change,” Schäfer said.
He also stressed the importance of creating a positive environment for the squad.
“The players have to be happy when they come here. Then, we can take a big step towards the United States, Canada, and Mexico. That is what we have to do.”
Ghana currently sits second in Group I with nine points after four matches as they aim to secure qualification for the global tournament.
