Send me my termination letter – Juliet Asante to gov’t

-

The outgoing Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), Juliet Asante, has called on the government to issue an official letter terminating her appointment.

Her request comes after the appointment of actress Kafui Danku as Executive Secretary and actor James Gardiner as Deputy Executive Secretary.

In a Facebook post, Asante expressed concern over the lack of formal communication regarding her removal, stating that she should have received an official letter before her successors were named.

“And while you are at it, please send me my lay-off letter. It is only respectful to both CEOs to ask the sitting to go in writing before appointing another… or isn’t it?” she wrote.

Following her exit, Asante has spoken about the challenges she faced in the role since her appointment in 2020. She claimed the NFA existed only on paper, lacking staff, funding, and office space to function effectively.

She also alleged that she was sexually harassed by two of her male superiors during her tenure.

Meanwhile, a petition has been submitted to former President John Mahama by a group of creatives, calling for the removal of Kafui Danku and James Gardiner from their newly appointed roles.
