Abdul Mumin doubtful for Black Stars’ World Cup qualifiers after injury

-

Ghana center-back Abdul Mumin could be sidelined for the Black Stars’ upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers later this month after suffering an injury.

The 26-year-old picked up the knock during Rayo Vallecano’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla in a Spanish La Liga clash on Saturday, March 1.

He was forced off in the 35th minute and replaced by Aridane Hernandez Umpierrez.

Before his early exit, Mumin put in a solid defensive shift, making a crucial goal-line clearance, an interception, and a blocked shot while completing 17 of his 21 attempted passes.

His injury raises concerns about his availability for Ghana’s Matchday Five and Six qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

The Black Stars are set to host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 21 before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24.

So far this season, Mumin has made 24 appearances for Rayo Vallecano, contributing two goals and an assist.
