Nana Ayensu Barima Kwame Kentenka, an uncle of Augustine Mensah, a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor who was shot dead at Manso Asamang in the Ashanti region, has broken his silence on the matter.

According to him, the 33-year-old left home for work on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Augustine was reportedly attacked on Wednesday while returning home after performing a transaction at a customer’s house.

In an interview on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem, Nana Ayensu, who doubles as the Adontenhene and a former Assembly Member, said later in the day, he heard Augustine had been involved in an accident.

“I had gone out to buy something when a fried rice vendor informed me Augustine had been involved in an accident. I rode my motorbike as quickly as possible to the scene because I was desperate to save him,” he said.

However, when he got to the scene, Nana Ayensu said Augustine had already been rushed to the hospital.

“I was confused as to how the accident happened even though I saw blood stains on a motorbike he moves around with,” he added.

The distraught uncle said he considered the possibility that he was attacked and hit with an object not until he saw a gunshot wound when he got to the hospital.

“When I arrived at the hospital, he was lying lifeless on the stretcher,” he said sadly.

The uncle added no arrest has been made yet although the Police have commenced investigations.

Augustine was survived by a wife and one child.
