President John Mahama has expressed gratitude to Parliament for approving his ministerial nominees.
Delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term on Thursday, February 27, 2025, the President acknowledged the swift vetting process.
“I wish to convey my heartfelt gratitude to Parliament for the prompt vetting and approval of my nominees. This efficiency is unmatched in the history of the Fourth Republic, demonstrating the strides we can make when we come together in our dedication to serve the great people of our country,” he stated.
With the vetting and approval of some deputy ministerial nominees still pending, Mr. Mahama expressed confidence that the same urgency would be applied.
“I believe similar dispatch will apply to the approval process of my deputy ministerial nominees. This will enable them to promptly assume office and assist the ministers in delivering on our vision to reset the nation,” he added.
So far, President Mahama has sworn into office 42 out of his 60 ministerial nominees, following their approval by the Appointments Committee of Parliament.
