SONA: Ghana’s economic crisis deeper than previously known – Mahama

-

President John Mahama has acknowledged that Ghana’s economic crisis is more severe than previously understood.

Speaking during the 2025 State of the Nation Address delivered in Parliament on Thursday, February 27, Mahama stressed that he inherited a struggling economy.

“I have come to report that the state of our nation is not good. Our economic problems are much deeper than we have previously realized,” he stated.

Mahama, however, assured Ghanaians that he is committed to finding solutions rather than shifting blame.

He recalled his past efforts in addressing the power crisis (dumsor) and vowed to tackle the economic downturn.

“I promised 10 years ago to fix dumsor, and I fixed it before leaving. I will fix the economic crisis and reset it on a path of growth and prosperity. I remain committed to taking every necessary step in resetting the country and restoring the economy,” he said.
