Identity of KNUST student found dead on campus uncovered

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has officially identified the female student whose lifeless body was discovered on campus in the early hours of February 27, 2025.

The deceased has been named as Joana Deladem Yabani, a fourth-year Biological Sciences student.

She was found near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre at approximately 5:00 a.m.

The university’s security services responded promptly to the scene and transported her body to the University Health Services, where she was officially pronounced dead.

According to a statement from the university’s management, her family has since been notified, with condolences extended.

It also stated that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.

The university has assured the student body and the general public of its commitment to safety, urging all to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.

Management further requested respect for the privacy of the bereaved family as investigations continue, with further updates expected in due course.
