Winning Ghana Premier League title is my aim – Hearts of Oak coach after FA Cup exit

-

Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has shifted his focus to winning the Ghana Premier League title following the team’s early exit from the FA Cup.

The Phobians bowed out of the competition in the Round of 16 after suffering a 4-3 defeat on penalties to lower-tier side Golden Kick FC over the weekend.

With their FA Cup campaign now over, the Ivorian tactician has set his sights on guiding the club to league triumph by the end of the season.

“My target for Hearts of Oak is to get the trophy from the national side (league title) and go to Africa and achieve some glorious name and go forward. That’s my focus,” Ouattara stated on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite Show.

He emphasized that clinching the league crown is crucial for achieving success on the continental stage.

“To go to Africa, you need to win the league in Ghana. We need to work on that and go forward,” he added.

After 19 rounds of matches, Hearts of Oak currently sit fourth on the Ghana Premier League table with 33 points.

The league is set to resume on March 1.
