Mohammed Kudus calls World Cup ‘Best Football Tournament’

Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has described the FIFA World Cup as the “best football tournament,” reflecting on his experience at the 2022 edition in Qatar.

The West Ham United forward made his World Cup debut in Qatar, where he delivered standout performances, scoring twice in three matches. Despite Ghana’s early exit, Kudus was widely regarded as the team’s best player.

In an interview with Rising Ballers, Kudus expressed his excitement about the tournament. “It was really nice. I think the World Cup is the best football tournament. The Champions League is up there, but the World Cup was just different in Qatar, my first time.”

The 24-year-old also shared the joy of having his family present to support him. “My family flew all the way to support, so it was an amazing feeling.”

Although Ghana did not advance beyond the group stage, Kudus cherishes the experience. “We didn’t go as far as I would have loved us to go, but it was nice to experience the World Cup. To be part of it was great,” he added.

Kudus remains determined to help Ghana return to the global stage in 2026, with the World Cup qualifiers on the horizon.

After missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Black Stars will shift focus to their upcoming qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar next month.
