Bodi Member of Parliament (MP) in the Western North Region, Samson Ahi, has stated that the constituency did not benefit from even a kilometer of road during the eight-year rule of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Deputy Minister-designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry made this claim during his vetting on Monday when Okaikwei Central MP, Patrick Boamah, inquired about the state of roads in the Bodi District.
Mr. Boamah asked whether it was true that town roads in Bodi had been tarred by the previous NPP administration.
However, Mr. Ahi dismissed the claim, saying, “A big false,” emphasizing that no significant road development took place in Bodi during the period in question.
“You [NPP government] didn’t even add one inch of tarred road in eight years in Bodi district,” he added.
Mr. Boamah cautioned his colleague, suggesting that he could be summoned before the Government Assurance Committee to clarify his remarks and accused him of potentially misleading the Appointments Committee.
“Eight years, and not one kilometer of road was added in Bodi,” he asserted.
Mr. Ahi maintained his position, challenging, “Mr. Chairman, if the Honorable Member can show me where the tarred roads are, I’d be happy to retract my statement.
