Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur Okyeame Kwame has thrown his support behind King Paluta as Artiste of the Year.
In a Facebook post, Okyeame Kwame wrote: “Artiste of the year. Signed sealed delivered. And he is wearing the love equation by ok. Medaase.”
Although he didn’t specify any award scheme, his post has sparked discussions about who deserves to win the Artiste of the Year title at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
Many have argued that King Paluta’s hard work and visibility throughout 2024 have made him a standout contender. His release of three hit songs—Aseda, Makoma, and Pop Champagne, along with an album and several performances at major concerts both in Ghana and abroad, has made him one of the most talked-about musicians of the year.
Meanwhile, some music lovers are also backing King Promise, a strong contender for the title last year, as well as Stonebwoy, whose impressive work in 2024 has also been acknowledged by music stakeholders, with some believing he deserves to win the Artiste of the Year award once again.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards’ Artiste of the Year category recognizes the artist with the highest audience appeal and popularity, as determined by the Academy, Board, and the General Public. The artist must have released a hit single, EP, or album and received one of the highest nominations during the year.
As of now, the organizers of the TGMA have yet to announce the nominations for this year’s awards.
