Nigerian artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been granted ₦2 million bail by a magistrate court in Ogun State following his arraignment for assaulting government officials.
Portable was arrested after allegedly leading a group of thugs to attack three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development during an enforcement operation at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Ota.
The officials were reportedly injured during the attack.
Following the altercation, Portable fled but was later declared wanted by the police.
He turned himself in on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, before being transferred to Ogun State for prosecution.
Appearing before the court, Portable was charged with assault, causing bodily harm, and obstruction of government duty.
He pleaded not guilty.
The court, after hearing the case, granted him bail in the sum of ₦2 million, with two sureties in like sum.
He was ordered to remain in custody until he meets the bail conditions.
The case has been adjourned to a later date, with legal proceedings set to continue in the coming weeks.
