Billboards erected by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates for the Ablekuma North Constituency have been destroyed by party supporters amid ongoing electoral uncertainty.
The incident occurred last night at Dansoman Junction, following days of rising tension as both candidates continue to claim victory in the December 7 parliamentary elections.
The Electoral Commission has yet to declare an official winner due to alleged irregularities and discrepancies in the pink sheets.
Despite the uncertainty, both parties have erected billboards declaring themselves winners, fueling further tension in the constituency.
Eyewitnesses reported chaotic scenes as supporters of the two leading parties clashed, pulling down and defacing the billboards belonging to NDC’s Ewurabena Aubynn and NPP’s Akua Afriyie.
Police have since been deployed to restore calm in the area, while residents express concern over the escalating political tension.
The Electoral Commission has urged both parties to remain calm as it works to address the concerns raised and finalize the results.
