A fetish priest and two others have been remanded in Police custody by the Asante Akropong Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District for allegedly stealing communication wire cables in Mfensi, near Akropong.

Kwabena Appiah Agyei, a 24-year-old fetish priest, Eric Kusi, a 20-year-old network installer, and Emmanuel Ampofo, a 22-year-old electrician, did not enter a plea. They are scheduled to appear in court again on March 5th for their plea to be heard on charges of conspiracy, unlawful entry, causing damage, and theft.

Police Detective Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu, who is prosecuting the case, informed the court that the complainant, Friday Anwakpa, is the Ashanti Regional Director of Glo Communication Network (Ghana) Company Limited.

According to the prosecution, on January 28th, the complainant received a call that the suspects had entered the Glo Tower office in Mfensi, disguising themselves as engineers performing routine maintenance but instead making off with wire cables.

The Akropong police, with the Abuakwa Divisional Police Patrol team, quickly responded to the scene and found the accused inside the company yard with four bundles of cables valued at GH₵240,000, ready for transport.

The accused were arrested, and during questioning, they admitted to the crime. They revealed that Eric Kusi (A1) had contacted the other two suspects from Tepa to plan and execute the theft. They also confessed that A1 climbed the 900-foot tower, damaged the communication tower worth GH₵20,000, and cut off the wire cables, bundling them into four coils.

Following investigations, the accused were charged and brought before the court.
