A-G fights off ‘clearing agent’ tag on Mahama

-

Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has stated that President John Mahama cannot be labeled a clearing agent following the discontinuation of high-profile cases.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Dr. Ayine emphasized that he made those decisions independently, without instruction or interference from the President.

“His Excellency John Dramani Mahama cannot be labeled a clearing agent because he has not been involved in any decision. I have not briefed him on any of these decisions,” he said.

He added that he would officially inform the President and Cabinet colleagues at the appropriate time.

Defending the use of the term “clearing agent” for former President Akufo-Addo, Dr. Ayine claimed Akufo-Addo directly intervened in many cases, often issuing statements in defense of accused officials, citing the case of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah.

“I have told you that I am taking absolute responsibility for all the decisions. If there is any fault, I take full responsibility today and in the future,” he stated.
