National Service should shape perspectives, not just CVs – Felix Gyamfi

Acting Director of the Ghana National Service Authority, Felix Gyamfi, has emphasized that national service should be about broadening perspectives, not just enhancing resumes.

Speaking on Joy FM’s PM Express on February 12, he stressed the need to reshape how young graduates view their service year.

“We need to change the mindset that national service is just a box to tick on a CV. It should expose young people to new experiences and make them more connected to Ghana,” he said.

Mr. Gyamfi revealed plans to deploy more personnel to areas where their impact will be most felt, including rural communities.

“If that means deploying more people to rural areas, then so be it. It’s about making a real difference, not just working in big companies,” he noted.

He also highlighted efforts to improve accountability, payroll efficiency, and timely payments, ensuring a solid administrative system for years to come.

“We are establishing a payroll system and strict audits so that service personnel are paid on time and the system functions seamlessly,” he added.

Mr. Gyamfi urged the public to watch out for upcoming projects aimed at youth development and making national service more impactful.
