The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared former Finance Minister Ken Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta a fugitive of the law, after he failed to comply with legal directives to return to Ghana for questioning in multiple high-profile corruption investigations.
The former Finance Minister is implicated in cases involving controversial contracts between Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited and the Ghana Revenue Authority, alleged corruption linked to the National Cathedral project, and the procurement of ambulances for the National Ambulance Service.
Despite offers from his legal team to cooperate remotely, the OSP insisted on his physical presence in Ghana. After missing the deadline to comply, authorities escalated the matter by formally declaring him a wanted fugitive.
The OSP also addressed reports of a supposed raid on Ofori-Atta’s residence on February 11, 2025, denying involvement and suggesting it may have been a staged attempt to undermine the investigation.
Beyond Ofori-Atta’s case, the OSP continues investigations into corruption allegations involving the Minerals Income Investment Fund and the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund.
