Former Eastern Regional Women’s Organizer of the NDC, Evelyn Korang, emerged victorious in the Eastern Region Council of State election.

She secured 17 votes out of 66 votes cast in an election that saw 24 candidates contesting.

Ahead of the polls, many political pundits tipped the party’s former regional chairman, John Owusu Amankwah; Nana Afia Effah Asantewaa Afrifa, a Queenmother and former Board Chairman of the Ghana Tourism Authority; and Seth Adjei Baah, popularly known as SHABA, as frontrunners.

However, the 59-year-old Korang triumphed, defeating her competitors.

In the final declaration, Nana Afia Effah Asantewaa Afrifa placed second with 12 votes, followed by Asiedu Offei with 9 votes, and John Owusu Amankwah with 8 votes.
