The Interim Management Committee (IMC) has issued a strong warning to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), stating that football activities will not resume until their concerns are fully addressed.
This stance was reiterated during a meeting in Kumasi between GFA officials and the management of Asante Kotoko.
Nana Apinkra Akwesi Awuah, Chairman of the IMC, emphasized the need for significant reforms before Kotoko returns to the pitch, following the tragic death of Nana Pooley, a dedicated supporter of the club.
Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak have jointly submitted a proposal to the GFA, outlining key demands such as the creation of an autonomous league body, improved security measures, automatic representation on the GFA Executive Council, and a fairer share of TV rights.
Addressing the GFA directly, Nana Apinkra made it clear that the clubs will no longer tolerate being overlooked.
“As for the GFA, we already know you take us for granted, but from now on, whether you like it or not, you will respect us. Kotoko and Hearts cannot be ignored. All we are asking for are better security measures,” Nana Apinkra stated.
He further clarified that Kotoko is not opposed to playing but will only return when their concerns are addressed.
“Even today, if you respond to our proposals, we will play. But until then, count us out because we cannot sit back and watch another life lost,” he added.
Meanwhile, the GFA has engaged representatives from all 18 Premier League clubs to discuss security concerns, with ongoing deliberations aimed at ensuring a safe resumption of football.
