Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil is likely to miss next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after suffering a quadriceps injury that will keep him sidelined for approximately eight weeks.
The 26-year-old played a key role in LA Galaxy’s success during his debut Major League Soccer (MLS) season, helping the team secure a major triumph.
However, his injury casts doubt on his availability for the Black Stars’ crucial qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar as Ghana fights for the top spot in their group.
Paintsil’s absence is also a blow to LA Galaxy, who are already dealing with the loss of Riqui Puig, sidelined with an ACL injury from last season.
The new MLS season kicks off on February 23, with LA Galaxy set to face San Diego in their opening fixture.
