Janet Nabla slams ORAL committee, calls it a political revenge tool

The Chairperson of the People’s National Party (PNP), Janet Asana Nabla, has criticized the establishment of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee.

She described it as a political tool for revenge rather than a genuine effort to fight corruption.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday, February 11, after the ORAL Committee submitted its report to the President, Janet Nabla argued that the initiative was designed to target members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) rather than ensure accountability.

“Sometimes, parties introduce initiatives not to help the country but to punish their political opponents. If that is the goal, then the institution will not work,” she stated.

Janet Nabla further questioned the neutrality of key figures in the ORAL Committee, including its chairman, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, whom she described as deeply partisan.

She also pointed to Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo’s history with the NPP government, arguing that his personal grievances could influence his actions.

“If Mahama really wanted to fight corruption, he would have involved independent bodies like CHRAJ and EOCO to lead the fight. There is no expiry date for crime; they should go after corrupt NDC members too, not just NPP members,” she added.

The ORAL Committee was set up by President Mahama to recover state funds lost to corruption.

Its mandate includes receiving and investigating public complaints on alleged financial misconduct.
