Klottey Korle NDC condemns MP’s ‘offensive’ comment against Zanetor Rawlings

-

The Klottey Korle branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned derogatory remarks made against its Member of Parliament, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, during parliamentary proceedings on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

In a petition addressed to the National Chairman of the NDC, the Constituency Secretary, Eugene Eshun-Elliot, described the comments from an unnamed MP—who allegedly referred to Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as the “daughter of a murderer”—as offensive and unacceptable.

The petition emphasized that such remarks insult not only the MP but also her late father, former President Jerry John Rawlings, who is recognized as the party’s founder.

The constituency executives called for swift action, demanding an investigation and a public apology from the MP responsible.

“The Parliament of Ghana must remain a space where mutual respect and civil discourse are upheld. Personal attacks, especially those targeting individuals based on their family background, should be condemned unequivocally,” the petition stated.

The Klottey Korle NDC urged the party leadership to ensure accountability and take measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in Parliament.
